Connect 5 Outposts with Cargo Links
Outposts can only be connected in pairs, so you will need six.
Open your scanner, navigate to the "Miscellaneous" category, and select "Cargo Link."
Connect three pairs of outposts, and the achievement will unlock.
Guide to Unlocking "Shipping Magnate"
This is a detailed guide to achieving one of the more complex achievements in the game, which is the construction and linking of outposts.
Preparation
Before beginning, you should create a manual save to revert to in case of mistakes. This task does not require any special skills or additional research.
Building and linking outposts
- Construct Six Outposts: On the same planet, build six outposts close to each other.
- Install Cargo Links: Fast travel to each outpost and use the building menu to add a “Cargo Link” to each outpost. This will cost 2 Beryllium, 12 Aluminum, 10 Iron and 2 Zero Wire per outpost. Each Output must have one Cargo Link. The total cost will be 12 Beryllium, 72 Aluminum, 120 Iron and 12 Zero Wire.
- Link the Outposts: Climb each Cargo Link and use the terminal to pair up the outposts. You should form three pairs (for example, Output 1 + Output 2, Output 3 + Output 4, Output 5 + Output 6) to unlock the achievement. Note that six outposts (not five as the achievement suggests) are needed as they are linked in pairs.
Each outpost only needs one Cargo Link, with no other buildings or resource trading necessary.
If the game does not show all outposts for linking, build additional outposts until all can be linked properly.
Resources
Obtain the necessary resources from “Jemison Mercantile” in New Atlantis on Planet Jemison in the System: Alpha Centauri. Rest for 48 hours in the game to allow the merchant to restock if needed.
Tracking
Monitor progress under the game menu (Menu > Status > Crafting > Cargo Links Established).
