In-Depth Description

The setstage command is a console function in Starfield used for direct manipulation of quest progression. It allows players to set, advance, or regress the stage of a specified quest.

The syntax is as follows: setstage <quest ID> <stage number>

  • <quest ID>: The unique identifier for the quest in question.
  • <stage number>: The desired progression point or stage of the quest.

For example, SetStage 00003448 100 would progress the quest with the ID "00003448" to its 100th stage.

This command can be used for:

  • Quest repair: Useful for progressing quests that may have bugs or glitches preventing natural progression.
  • Instant completion: Players can use this command to instantly finish a quest.
  • Narrative exploration: Allows players to skip to certain plot points in a quest, effectively allowing them to explore different narrative outcomes without naturally progressing to that point.

Caution: While this command offers significant control over quest progression, it can also:

  • Potentially break the natural flow of the game.
  • Bypass certain quest triggers, which might lead to unexpected game behavior or bugs.
  • Affect other quests that are interlinked or have dependencies.
